Aphillanthes Rose 2014

Wine: Domaine Aphillanthes
Vintage: 2014
Country: France
Region: Côtes-du-Rhône
Grapes: Carignan, Grenache, Mourvedre, Counoise
Vines: Biodynamic
Production: Small

From the Southern Rhône hail Daniel Boulle and his wife Helene with another rosé favorite of the season. They produce small lots of red and pink wines near Rasteau and Travaillon from biodynamically farmed vineyards and a very light touch in the winery. Concrete tanks, gravity-fed movement and no filtration on the reds tells me I've got find some of those reds ASAP.

Meanwhile, the Domaine Les Asphillanthes Côte du Rhône rosé 2014 is a perfect little weeknight refresher to match all your fresh produce dishes. The usual blend: carignan, grenache, mourvedre plus a little counoise. Watermelon for days, bright with notes of rose petal. True blush color. Lip smacking.

We enjoyed it with baked salmon, butter peas, field peas and watermelon salad with feta and lime juice. Get yourself a bottle right quick.
